Teach For America Greater New Orleans is always engaging in new ways to stay as current as possible and be a supportive member of the educational landscape in the Greater New Orleans region. We want you, our community, to be part of the work happening here at Teach For America Greater New Orleans!

  • GNO Outreach: TFA GNO is committed to offering volunteering, wellness, and social experiences for our corps members, alumni, and our community partners. Through the development of TFA GNO Outreach Program we will build and maintain relationships with community leaders and organizations, participate in monthly volunteer activities within the Greater New Orleans community and offer monthly wellness and social events for our TFA GNO Community. TFA GNO Alumni Board -  A group of alumni who help create the conditions for network connectivity, leadership development, and collective impact of the current corps members and more than 1,000 alumni living in the GNO region. The Collective GNO -  The Collective is Teach For America's national association for alumni who identify as Native, Indigenous, and people of color. We grow leadership capacity, strengthen community, and increase access to opportunities—all in the interest of serving our students. Alumni Coaching Fellowship This is an amazing leadership development opportunity for current TFA alumni who are both teaching in their schools and are ready for added impact. We believe that teachers and leaders hold the key to a more equitable future for the children of GNO.  Through this fellowship alumni will have the opportunity to mentor and support current TFA corps members within their school building! The Sue Lehmann Excellence in Teacher Leadership Award celebrates outstanding teacher leaders achieving excellent outcomes in the classroom and pursuing systems change to expand opportunities for all children.  Who can apply? Corps member or alumni teachers (individuals or teams of teachers).

Teach For America Greater New Orleans began with just 45 corps members in 1990, and now has a corps of over 120serving the parishes of Orleans, Jefferson, and St. Bernard. Additionally, there are almost 1,100 alumni living in the region. Today, Teach For America corps members and alumni comprise a full 20 percent of the New Orleans teaching force, and over 50 alumni serve as leaders at the school or school systems level.

The community has seen rapid growth in student achievement. Join Teach For America New Orleans and help transform the educational outlook of students in New Orleans.
