Mentor Teacher Certification Program

TFA GNO is proud to be a licensing partner for the Louisiana Mentor Teacher Certification. Mentors support novice teacher development in their schools while living into their own personal leadership and learning a host of new skills and practices designed to prepare them for greater breadth of impact. The Sue Lehmann Excellence in Teacher Leadership Award celebrates outstanding teacher leaders achieving excellent outcomes in the classroom and pursuing systems change to expand opportunities for all children.  Who can apply? Corps member or alumni teachers (individuals or teams of teachers).

Connect With Us

Teach For America Greater New Orleans began with just 45 corps members in 1990, and now has a corps of over 120 serving the parishes of Orleans, Jefferson, and St. Bernard. Additionally, there are almost 1,100 alumni living in the region. Today, Teach For America corps members and alumni comprise a full 20 percent of the New Orleans teaching force, and over 50 alumni serve as leaders at the school or school systems level.

The community has seen rapid growth in student achievement. Join Teach For America New Orleans and help transform the educational outlook of students in New Orleans.
