Once your need-based financial support application is submitted, you can find the status by clicking the "Need-Based Financial Support" link on the "Help with Expenses" section of your Applicant Center and clicking "Need-Based Financial Support Status" on the left-hand side. Once your Need-Based Package is ready, you will be able to see it on the upper-right-hand side of your applicant center landing page. Note that your Need-Based package does not include any Transitional Support Stipend you were also offered.
If you made a mistake on your application (i.e. listed the incorrect loan amount) or need to add anything to your application, reach out to us and explain the specific correction you need to make.
Federal loans consist of Direct loans (subsidized and unsubsidized), Stafford loans (subsidized and unsubsidized), and Perkins loans. Private loans consist of loans from a bank or credit union, your school, or private loan institutions (i.e. Sallie Mae).

We have built in a baseline stipend to ALL incoming corps members. Beyond this, we encourage any applicant who is concerned about their ability to make the financial transition into teaching to apply for Need-Based Financial Support. We do imagine that those who received need-based financial aid in college are more likely to receive higher packages than those who did not. If you did not receive need-based financial aid in college, the size and composition of your Need-Based Financial Support package will be based on your demonstrated need and regional assignment.
Your particular Need-Based package will be determined by your demonstrated financial need, the costs associated with you region and how much you have already been offered in stipends.
Teach For America Need-Based Financial Support packages are determined by your demonstrated financial need beyond the baseline funds offered through your Transitional Support Stipend to cover cost incurred by moving to your assigned region, and necessary expenses before your first paycheck.
All accepted applicants are invited to apply to need-based financial support as soon as they receive notification of their regional assignment. (Applicants applying through our early deadline who are admitted in the spring are welcome to apply the following fall). If you apply during your confirmation window, you will receive notification of your financial package within 2-7 days. All others will receive notification within 7 days.
