Since 2009, Teach For America has worked alongside our partners in Greater Tulsa to create opportunities for all kids in our city.

Tulsa is a city on the rise. Reconciliation, entrepreneurship, and collaboration are fueling change, and this welcoming city invites more equity-oriented educators to join over 350 CMs and alumni.

Our team is focused on results, resilience, and relationships. We are supporting our corps members to become excellent, culturally responsive, and resilient classroom leaders as well as build supportive relationships with each other and connections in the community that foster their sense of belonging and possibility.

If you were to visit our region, you might hear one of our corps members say "We are Greater Together." But this isn't just a tagline - it is our deep belief in what is possible for kids when you build strong coalitions across lines of difference that has defined our work by centering resilience, relationships & results. Over the past decade, Teach For America Greater Tulsa has supported more than 1,000 corps members whose collective work is moving the needle in Greater Tulsa's educational landscape.

Greater Tulsa has made considerable progress in the last decade by doubling the number of schooling options available for parents and families in Tulsa & Muskogee since 2008, with many of these new schooling options founded by Teach For America alumni.

In 2019, Teach For America Greater Tulsa was recognized by the Tulsa Regional Chamber as the Inclusion Champion at the second annual State of Inclusion breakfast. This award recognizes companies for outstanding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices. Our state and city needs more leaders who believe in justice, who understand the systemic effects of poverty and racism, and who want to do something about it. We need a diverse coalition of leaders fueling progress for our kids

“Trusting myself and taking the time to ask questions about my students and the lives they lead is my biggest win this year. Ultimately, knowing them has helped me know myself and who I am in this new role. They have helped me establish a firm foundation for why I wake up every morning to teach. They are my why and I'm eternally grateful for the group of kids I've been given the opportunity to teach during my first year.”
