Why does Teach For America need transcripts?

Our need for transcripts is based on a few factors:

 

Verification of eligibility: In order to join TFA, all corps members must have at least a 2.50 GPA minimum and a completed bachelor's degree by June. Your transcripts verify that you meet these requirements.

 

Confirmation of completed coursework: Since your eligibility to teach in a region is based in part on your coursework, we need to confirm that you have completed all the necessary classes and credit hours to legally teach in the state the region is located in.

 

Requirements from school districts, certification, and university partners: School districts, universities, or certification partners may have additional requirements beyond that of TFA. Some regions may need to verify your eligibility with these partners by reviewing your transcripts before finalizing an offer.
