Answers to Frequently Asked Questions Joining the Corps

I am concerned about my regional assignment. What should I do?

Please know that we take your preferences very seriously when determining your regional assignment because we know that it is a crucial part of your decision to join the corps. However, we must also consider district requirements and need.

When assigning you to a region, we look at where you are qualified to teach based on your undergraduate coursework. Each region has district-mandated requirements, which often include specific GPAs, majors, or credits in a certain area, and all applicants must meet the requirements for the region and position to which they are assigned. We also factor in where the need is greatest. We do this by considering the number of accepted applicants who want to teach in the region and the number of teachers our districts anticipate they will need. Once we know where you qualify to teach and where the need for you is greatest, we do everything we can to assign you to your most highly preferred region.

If you have additional questions or want to discuss regional options, you will need to connect directly with a member of your regional staff.
