TFA NY Alumni Giving Challenge

The Alumni Giving Challenge provides the next generation of TFA NY corps members with vital support that sets them up for success in the classroom and beyond. 100% of funds raised from the Alumni Giving Challenge return to our incoming corps members through transitional funding. This alleviates the major financial costs associated with joining the corps, and is critical to diversifying and expanding our base to reflect our students and their experiences. These need-based funding packages of no-interest loans and grants are given to incoming corps members so that they can focus on being the leaders our students need.

Thanks to our generous alumni, more than 75% of incoming corps members received transitional funding. Will you help set up the next generation of TFA leaders for success? Whether it’s $10, or $10,000, your gift today helps one more remarkable leader join TFA NY and devote their talents to empowering our city’s most vulnerable students.

Join Yin's Run!

In 2013, Teach For America alumna Yin Lin (NY ’11) set the ambitious goal of running a marathon on every continent. Since then, she’s raced in Tokyo, New York, Sydney, Berlin, Medellin, and Kilimanjaro. In March 2020, she joins the Seven Continent Club with her final marathon in Antarctica and is going the extra mile to commemorate the milestone by giving back to TFA.

Yin has launched a fundraising campaign to raise $183,400 for Teach For America New York. The goal – 183.4K – is an incredible contribution and symbolizes the end of this inspiring journey (26.2 miles, the length of a marathon, multiplied by 7, the number of continents Yin has run on). When Yin began running as a TFA NY corps member, it helped strengthen her sense of community, mental well-being, and commitment to her classroom. She’s now hoping to support the next generation of TFA teachers and students by giving back to this community of leaders.
