Corps Member Eligibility

To be considered for a position with TFA, you must have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 and either have U.S. citizenship, national/legal resident status or be a DACA recipient or EAD holder. You are not required to have a background in education.

You’ll receive a salary and benefits from the school district, charter school, or pre-K center where you work. You’ll be paid the same as other beginning teachers working for the same employer. Salaries for new teachers in the Rio Grande Valley range between $45,000 and $49,500, depending on the subject and grade level you teach.

Benefits

Teach For America launched the New Orleans region in 1990 with just 45 corps members. Since then, the region has grown to 1,000+ alumni in the area and nearly 200 corps members, serving the parishes of Orleans, Jefferson, and St. Bernard. 

As a corps member, you’ll help transform the educational outlook of students in New Orleans. Most corps members are placed in the city of New Orleans. Some are also placed in nearby St. Bernard Parish. Teach For America has been in New Jersey since 1993, and the state is now home to more than 1,400 corps members and alumni, including 500 alumni teachers.

Corps members and alumni teach in our classrooms, lead our schools, advocate for fair education policies, and work with community-based organizations. Our network works in and around Newark, Camden, Passaic, and Paterson Counties, and many other New Jersey communities.

In partnership with local universities such as Lipscomb University and Relay Graduate School of Education, nonprofit organizations, and Tennessee businesses, corps members receive initial training, ongoing professional development, and access to an unparalleled resource and support network.

TFA has more than 3,000 corps members, reaching nearly 250,000 students in over 1,500 schools.

To be considered for a position with TFA, you must have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 and either have U.S. citizenship, national/legal resident status or be a DACA recipient or EAD holder. You are not required to have a background in education.
