Salaries 

Salaries range from $50,000 to $60,000 for new teachers in New Jersey. Corps members are independently hired by local schools or districts. They are responsible for obtaining certification and employment and are not paid by Teach For America.

Rent & Utilities

Corps members typically spend between $1,000 (shared) and $1,800 (single) per month on rent, depending on their living preferences.

While these will vary person to person, some average cost assumptions are:

• Food: $200/month
• Transportation:
  • Car is strongly encouraged
  • Transit pass - $100/month
• Health Insurance: $200/month
• Utilities: $150/month
• Gas: $120/month (a tank a week)
