Salaries

Salaries range from $41,500 to $45,700 for new teachers in Greater New Orleans. Corps members are independently hired by local schools or districts. They are responsible for obtaining certification and employment and are not paid by Teach For America.

Moving Costs

Corps members typically incur several costs associated with moving and housing. The total estimated housing and transitional cost is $1,800 to $3,000.

Rent and Utilities

Rents typically range anywhere from $750 to $1,400, depending on whether a corps member has a roommate or lives solo, and what part of town they live in.

Transportation

Corps members find that having a car in Greater New Orleans is necessary, given the layout of our city and the number of schools in which you could be hired. There are many dealerships in Greater New Orleans if you don’t already own a car, and we recommend planning to have some time to make the necessary arrangements before the school year begins.
