Learn more about Teach For America's work in the Delaware region.

A parent at one of our schools said it best: "You cannot do better if you don't know better."

As a small state of 130,000 students, with 19 districts and 24 charter schools in urban and rural communities, we must see excellence right here in our own communities to know it is possible, and to have the conviction and courage to pursue it against tremendous odds.

Since 2011, Teach For America Delaware has recruited and trained more than 200 teachers, grown our alumni base from 19 to 125, and seen eight teachers become Teachers of the Year.

We launched Lead For Delaware in 2015 because we know the power of school leadership—one well trained school leader is the focal point of impact for hundreds of children. Leadership at the top in one school has a cascading effect with hiring, training, and retention of each teacher within the building. Lead For Delaware identifies educators statewide and beyond with a record of dramatically improving student learning, and prepares them through a two-year principal certification program to serve as cage-busting school leaders committed to closing opportunity gaps in the schools that need them most.

Lead For Delaware is now in its third year of operation. We have graduated one cohort of leaders, all of whom lead schools in Delaware, are preparing to graduating our second, and have 12 more in training.
