Since 1992, Teach For America has worked alongside our partners in the D.C. Region in to create opportunities for kids in our most underserved communities.
Teach For America D.C. Region (TFA DCR) is a hub of leaders and opportunities that fuel individual and collective progress toward educational equity. We are committed to expanding opportunities for children by affecting profound systemic change. Our mission is to find, develop, and support a diverse network of leaders who expand opportunities for children from classrooms, schools, and every sector and field that shapes the broader system in which schools operate.
Since 1992, we have worked to strengthen the education landscape in the Greater DC, Washington Area, and 30 years later, our work in DC, Prince George’s County, and Virginia has been nothing short of impactful. We remain the largest and most diverse talent pool in education in the region, working with our school partners to identify their highest-demand content areas and, using targeted professional development and coaching to support professionals to become effective classroom teachers. Our region supports a vibrant community of over 3,300 alumni inside and outside the Beltway, and for the 2022-2023 school year we support corps members teaching in over 45 schools in the District of Columbia, Alexandria, Virginia, and Prince George’s County, Maryland.
