With regional hubs in Jacksonville, Central Florida, and Miami-Dade, hundreds of our corps members and alumni are working to improve the quality of teaching and education in high-need communities across the state of Florida. We are proud that Teach For America has been utilizing this model and achieving statewide improvement metrics since launching our work in 2003.
As “One Florida,” the TFA Florida team will focus on statewide recruitment efforts and a public affairs strategy meant to forge new, strategic partnerships and revenue streams. We believe this will allow us to play into the strengths of each region and accelerate impact across the Sunshine State. TFA Central Florida serves as a unifying hub to grow our alumni strategy and cultivate key supporters throughout Orlando and Tampa.
Growing Our Impact Across Central Florida
In June 2020, Teach For America Central Florida made a strategic shift to expand its impact outside of Orlando to the broader Central Florida region, including Tampa. TFA Central Florida will become a premier region for alumni development. Following the success of TFA's first alumni region in Austin, Texas, TFA Central Florida will be able to see:
- An increased number of alumni in key systems roles, and those alums sustaining impact.
- A network that is continuously spreading knowledge in ways that accelerate student learning.
- Increased optimism in the solvability of the problem among the network.
- A virtuous cycle that helps compel the next generation to work towards educational equity.
Our Leaders
Central Florida is transforming into a unifying hub to grow our alumni strategy and cultivate key supporters throughout Orlando and Tampa. With over 1,500 alumni across the state, there is a huge potential for impact by accelerating the growth and leadership of these alumni.
