This week, we’re welcoming our newest corps members to Greater Chicago-Northwest Indiana! This group of leaders comes from a diverse array of backgrounds and experiences, and each will bring their own unique talent to this work. They are joining our 3,000 strong community of corps members and alumni transforming the education landscape, working to ensure that one day all students have access to an excellent education.

“For me, my community in Chicago was my own catalyst. It pushed me to be the best I could be all while making sure I remained humble and authentic,” says 2019 corps member and Chicago native Leandro Padilla. “I want to become part of a community that will do the same for other kids like me. A community of educators and leaders who are working towards giving every child the opportunity to learn, grow, influence, and lead.”

Over the next seven weeks, corps members will experience summer training in Chicago, a rigorous, hands-on experience based on a proven model that combines intensive training with immersive teaching practice and coaching. As part of summer training, they will be co-teaching summer school at four schools across the city, several of which are led by local Teach For America alumni.
