Congrats to Our New Board Chair!

We are excited to announce Charles Sueing as the new regional board chair for Teach For America Nashville-Chattanooga.

We are excited to announce Charles Sueing as the new regional board chair for Teach For America Nashville-Chattanooga. Charles joined the board in 2014 and has been a long time supporter of Teach For America and educational equity. Additionally, Charles is a well-respected advocate and philanthropist with a history of serving in leadership positions on boards in the Nashville community. Charles succeeds Daphne Butler, who served as the regional board chair from 2016 - 2021.

About Charles:

Charles Sueing, a native Memphian, earned his undergraduate degree from Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA and has resided in the Nashville area since 1994. He is the principal agent and President of Sueing Insurance Agency, Inc., which is a full service insurance and financial services agency. Having begun his career with Nationwide 27 years ago, he moved through the ranks of corporate management before branching out to start his own agency here in Nashville 22 years ago. Today, Sueing Insurance Agency is a full services Independent insurance agency offering insurance solutions and financial services including personal and commercial lines, life, as well as a variety of retirement and investment vehicles with many top performing insurance carriers. He was recognized by Nationwide Insurance Co as the 2007 Regional Community Service Award winner and 2009 District Community Service Award winner for his outstanding community and customer service work. He also received the 2008/2009 Spirit of the Chamber Award from the Nashville Chamber of Commerce for his efforts in leading Small Business Initiatives. His firm was recognized as a 2012 Honoree for being a Top 300 Small Business of the South. Additionally, he was listed as a 2018 recipient of the 100 Leading African-Americans by NashvilleBusiness.net. 

Charles is also very active in various business and community organizations and has served at the Board level on many of them. He has a passion and heart for advocacy, particularly, in the realms of service and educational equality. Believing that the attainment of a quality education is the key component in providing a platform upon which success can be pursued, he has dedicated much of his time and resources in serving in organizations that seek to achieve this goal.
