Julie Gronquist

Executive Director

Julie has been a member of the Teach for America Kansas City family since 2010 and is the region’s Executive Director. She attended Bemidji State University where she majored in Early Childhood Education and Political Science. Upon graduation she worked as an advocate for early childhood education and taught special education in the South Bronx. Following the completion of her Masters in Teaching from Pace University, Julie worked as a special education coordinator at Achievement First Bushwick Elementary, where she piloted a special education model that is widely used within the network today. In addition to her work at TFA, Julie dedicated 10 years of service to the KIPP KC Board of directors, ultimately serving as Board President, and is a foster parent. Jennifer Howard began her teaching career as a 2004 Teach For America corps member in Atlanta, GA. After her corps commitment, Jennifer first joined TFA staff in 2006 as a Recruitment Director where she led teacher recruitment efforts across the state of Ohio. Jennifer went on to teach at KIPP LEAD in Gary, IN before working in higher education at Northwestern University. Jennifer returned to staff at Teach For America in 2014 to lead the Greater Cleveland Development & Partnerships team. Jennifer served as Interim Executive Director for Southwest Ohio in 2020 prior to the merger of TFA’s two Ohio regions. Jennifer is a graduate of The Ohio State University. She received a Master of Education from Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College of Education. Originally from Chicago, Jennifer has lived in Cleveland since 2013.
