Working in partnership with community and education leaders, legislators, and families is the foundation of Teach For America Delaware.

About Us

Since 2011, Teach For America Delaware has worked to ensure students across the state have access to leaders who empower them to learn, lead, and thrive. Thousands of children have been impacted by our network of transformational leaders. Working in partnership with community and education ecosystems, legislators, and families, we are committed to making educational excellence a reality for all Delaware students.

In Delaware, we are focused on attracting exceptional individuals to teach and lead while implementing new ways of creating value to our school and community partners through: Teacher recruitment, training, and retention strategies, STEM-focused teacher placement and leadership development, student-centered leadership development experiences, and alumni impact.

Our Community

The Delaware region currently partners with the Christina School District in Wilmington, as well as EastSide Charter School and Thomas Edison Charter School. Teach For America Delaware alumni work tirelessly across industries to deepen their impact for children throughout Delaware. Our state alumni network extends from Wilmington to Seaford and includes leaders in K-12 education systems, higher education, corporations, nonprofits, government, and social entrepreneurship.

Living Here

Living Here

Our small but mighty state has something for everyone without the high cost of living that neighboring states may have. Wilmington is the center of arts and culture, with theater, music and food festivals throughout the year. Newark, home to the University of Delaware, also provides an equally vibrant restaurant scene.  If outdoor experiences are more of your vibe, Delaware is home to some of the best beaches on the east coast, including Bethany Beach, which is in the top 20 beaches in the country and 17 state parks.

School Partners: The biggest impact happens together

Meaningful change toward creating quality education opportunities that benefit students, their families and communities starts by supporting leaders who believe in the potential of all children.

Supporting school leadership with systems change leaders

Our focus is supporting school leadership in improving academic excellence and equity in communities across our nation. Our passionate, rigorously trained, systems change leaders work alongside school partners and their staff to advance the academic and personal growth of students in the classroom, and beyond. You can see facts about who we are and what we do when you download this overview about us.

Our support model

As a leadership development program, we seek out those who possess the perspectives and qualifications necessary to become great teachers – and foster their skills to become lifelong leaders for educational excellence and equity.

Teacher Corps

Participants in our teaching program commit to teach at least two years in a region where we work. For over three decades our corps members have been placed with the best interests of each region, district, school, and community in mind – a practice that continues today.

Many corps members decide to continue their time in the classroom beyond their two-year commitment – often staying within their placement district or region. Others pursue education-focused careers or leadership positions, continuing to work for the betterment of future generations within their communities.

Ignite Fellowship

Our national tutoring program, Ignite, builds on our experience in school partnerships by recruiting and developing leaders who join classrooms virtually to accelerate and foster student learning, belonging, and growth through small group tutoring sessions.

Alumni Network

Our diverse network of alumni leaders are passionate about advancing and advocating educational equity in the United States. Their work underpins efforts to ensure opportunities for every learner by illuminating new paths in education, and strengthening, rebuilding, and reimagining schools in disadvantaged and low-income communities.

Fostering collective impact

To further the commitment of our corps members, Ignite fellows, and alumni – and to support the needs of our school partners – TFA provides timely, actionable, and meaningful support through a comprehensive set of professional development tools and resources.

By supplementing development programs already provided at our partner schools, we can ensure every one of our diverse leaders has access to an individualized support system designed to meet the unique needs of school leadership, the student body, their families, and the community. These resources include:

About Us

About Us

Teach For America Oklahoma City began in 2011, serving communities in central and western Oklahoma. To date, more than 400 leaders have positively impacted the lives of thousands of students. Our teachers, alumni, and staff have adopted Oklahoma's spirit of collaboration, resilience, and determination, and we work relentlessly to ensure the students of our region have the top opportunities they deserve.

Our Community

Our Community

Few places in our country provide us the opportunity to deeply connect with our history through the eyes of our indigenous nations and collaborate with broad coalitions shaping the future of 21st-century life, discourse, and community. Oklahoma City and its inspiring renaissance story provides that unique and celebrated history, filled with stories of our resilience, perseverance, challenges, and triumphs.

The educational ecosystem in our state is poised to make phenomenal progress for children in poverty over the next several years. Teach For America Oklahoma City is proud to be a part of driving that change. Transforming education requires a broad coalition of people united around our shared values and common purpose. Our expanding alumni network reaches across central Oklahoma and holds the promise of a powerful and lasting local movement, beyond two years in the classroom.

Oklahoma City (OKC) Wichita Mountains

In 2022, TFA OKC adopted an Alumni Innovation model to catalyze the impact of our alumni network. Oklahoma City believes in the power of alumni leadership and now, more than ever, we are ready for you to be a part of this movement for change.
