Many choose to continue teaching after their two-year TFA commitment ends.

Corps members develop into strong classroom leaders who go beyond traditional expectations to advance students’ academic and personal growth while helping to strengthen schools. They work in the districts and schools most impacted by educational inequity.

In partnership with local nonprofit organizations and businesses in Greater New Orleans, corps members receive initial training, ongoing professional development, and access to an unparalleled resource and support network.

Corps Member Eligibility

To be considered for a position with TFA, you must have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 and either have U.S. citizenship, national/legal resident status or be a DACA recipient or EAD holder. You are not required to have a background in education.

Salary

You’ll receive a salary and benefits from the school district, charter school, or pre-K center where you work. You’ll be paid the same as other beginning teachers working for the same employer. Salaries for new teachers in Greater New Orleans range between $43,500 to $48,000, depending on the subject and grade level you teach.

Benefits

Make an Impact in Greater New Orleans

Teach For America launched the New Orleans region in 1990 with just 45 corps members. Since then, the region has grown to 1,000+ alumni in the area and nearly 200 corps members, serving the parishes of Orleans, Jefferson, and St. Bernard. 

As a corps member, you’ll help transform the educational outlook of students in New Orleans. Most corps members are placed in the city of New Orleans. Some are also placed in nearby St. Bernard Parish. As part of TFA Greater New Orleans, you’ll work to meaningfully expand opportunities for students, using your background and leadership skills to drive students to academic success and transform lives.

In partnership with Boston University, local nonprofit organizations, and businesses across the state of Massachusetts, corps members receive initial training, ongoing professional development, and access to an unparalleled resource and support network.

Clark County is the fifth-largest school district in the United States. Teach For America has been in the region since 2004, partnering with the Clark County School District, Caesars Entertainment, Las Vegas Sands, Inc., NV Energy, and many other organizations to improve outcomes and opportunities for the community’s children. 

As a corps member, you’ll join a network of corps members and alumni working to tackle educational inequity in Nevada.
