Our Community

Our Community

In Delaware, we are focused on attracting exceptional equity-minded individuals to teach and lead while implementing new ways of creating value to our school and community partners through: (1) Teacher recruitment, training, and retention strategies, (2) STEM-focused teacher placement and leadership development, (3) equity-centered leadership development experiences, and (4) alumni impact.

Teach For America Delaware alumni work tirelessly across industries to deepen their impact for children throughout Delaware. Our state alumni network includes leaders in K-12 education systems, higher education, corporations, nonprofits, government, and social entrepreneurship.

“My experience with Teach for America taught me so much about the work that is needed, both in and out of schools, in order for transformational change to happen in our education system. It showed me the impact that’s possible at the individual student and classroom level and its place in the larger scope of the work. That is empowering!”

“TFA Delaware’s commitment to culturally responsive teaching has shaped the core values of humility, flexibility, and respect which ground my classroom space. Through our group TFA Delaware seminars, we’re constantly encouraged to think about our blind spots, our backgrounds, and the way that we connect with our students. This has actively supported my practices as an anti-racist educator.”
