Hanseul Kang became Washington, D.C.’s State Superintendent of Education in March 2015. She previously served as Chief of Staff for the Tennessee Department of Education. A seasoned leader and former high school teacher, she reorganized and restructured the department to reflect strategic priorities and created a more streamlined budget process that allowed for improved personnel decision-making and better use of resources.
