TFA Baltimore March Newsletter: Developing Our Leaders For Greater Impact
We are a strong and diverse community of leaders whose paths continue to be shaped by their initial corps experience. Our alumni network of 930 includes 370 teachers, 24 school leaders, 26 founders of social ventures, and many others working in organizations that address poverty, health care, and education. To foster alumni connectivity and collaboration, we’ve expanded our programming to support a lifetime of learning. Please read on to learn how one of our initiatives is providing our alumni opportunities to learn and grow together. – Courtney Cass, Executive Director
DEVELOPING OUR LEADERS FOR GREATER IMPACT
As part of our strategic direction, we are committed to providing alumni a variety of professional development opportunities to not only further build their skills and talents, but to also foster relationships across our network so that alumni can learn from one another.
In December, alumni came together to attend an alumni learning experience, Managing to Change the World - an intensive two day workshop focused on developing skills to lead highly effective teams. While serving in different sectors that affect education, such as creating policy as a City Council member, leading school communities as principals, or founding nonprofits, like Baltimore Dance Crews Project (featured above), these alumni are all driving access and opportunities for students and families in Baltimore. Members of the group have continued to meet following the workshop, to learn from one another's experiences and work collaboratively to accelerate the pace of progress.
