New York Associate Board

The Associate Board brings together emerging leaders who are committed to advancing Teach For America New York's mission of expanding educational opportunity for all children. Through fundraising, advocacy, and community engagement, members help expand TFA's impact across New York City.

About Us

Since 2007, the Associate Board has rallied support among New York City’s champions and raised nearly one million dollars to support Teach For America New York corps members, alumni, and students.

What We Do

We help build sustained support for Teach For America New York through:

  • Events that bring together leaders, advocates, and supporters who are committed to expanding educational opportunity across New York.
  • Fundraising that supports Teach For America New York's work with corps members, alumni, students, and school communities.
  • Volunteer and engagement opportunities that foster meaningful connections to TFA's mission and impact.

Become an Associate Board Member

Associate Board members support Teach For America New York's work in a variety of meaningful ways, including:

  • Investing their time, expertise, and ideas through quarterly meetings, volunteer opportunities, and annual events.
  • Committing to fundraising (or giving) $2,500 to directly support Corps Member programming.
  • Leveraging their networks to connect TFA New York with individuals, organizations, and opportunities that strengthen our work.

How to Apply

The next window to apply for TFA NY Associate Board membership is August 15 - September 15, 2026. To apply, please send a statement about your motivation to join and a link to your resume/LinkedIn page to Farihah Shameem (farihah.shameem@teachforamerica.org).
