About Us

Our commitment to educational opportunity for all students is at the heart of everything we do at Teach For America in Florida. We are a dynamic force for change, dedicated to ensuring that every student receives an excellent education. With a presence in Central, North, and South Florida, our impact extends across the diverse and vibrant state of Florida.

Teach For America launched in Florida in 2003, in the Miami-Dade region, driven by community members who united to demand equal access to quality education for every student. Since then, we have expanded our reach, first to Jacksonville in 2008 and later to the Central Florida region in 2015, with our Tampa Bay corps beginning in 2024. This journey has been marked by our unwavering commitment to transforming the educational landscape and empowering future generations.

Today, we proudly partner with more than 150 schools across Florida and have impacted over 400,000 students. Our ever-growing network comprises more than 1,700 corps member teachers and alumni leaders who work tirelessly to bridge educational gaps and improve our students' prospects. While we’ve seen remarkable progress and transformative impact since arriving in Florida, our mission is far from complete, and there’s still much work to be done. Our journey continues as we expand our footprint, working in partnership with local communities to ensure improved outcomes for all students across the state.

Join us in our mission to ensure that every student in Florida has the opportunity to attain an excellent education. Together, we can make a lasting impact and transform the future of education in the Sunshine State.

Michaela Dunn moved from North Carolina to Jacksonville, Florida, six months ago to join the Teach For America corps, and she hasn't looked back. As a first-year teacher at San Jose Elementary School, she starts her mornings watching the sunrise at the beach before heading to a classroom where her students fill her cup in 3 to 4 different languages every single day.

If you're wondering how to become a teacher in Florida or exploring teaching jobs in Florida, the Teach For America corps offers classroom support unlike anything else. TFA corps members teach in cities across Florida, full of history, art, and possibilities.
