Accepting Your TFA Offer: What Happens Next

Waiting for your admissions decision? Here's a look at what happens if you receive an offer to join Teach For America. From learning where you'll teach to understanding your salary, training, and next steps, we'll help you get the information you need to make the decision that's right for you.

Your Offer: Look for Two Key Emails

If you're accepted to the corps, you'll receive two emails with important information about your offer.

The First Email: Will Contain Your Admissions Decision

You'll receive confirmation of your acceptance from the admissions team. Log in to the Applicant Center to review the details of your offer.

The Second Email: Will Cover Where You’ll Teach and Next Steps

You’ll hear from your region about the placement community where you’ll teach. This email will include:

  • A link to review your offer in the Applicant Center
  • A link to your Regional Offer Guide, covering:
    • Onboarding steps & timeline
    • The teacher certification process
    • How the school hiring process works
    • What to expect from Pre-Service training
    • Salary and financial information
    • A link to schedule a 1:1 meeting with a staff member
    • Details about a virtual call with your placement community

Review Your Offer in the Applicant Center

Once you log in, you’ll complete a short survey to help us understand how we can best support you. Then, you’ll be able to access all your offer details, including:

  • Where You’ll Teach: Your assigned region and placement community
  • What You’ll Teach: Your subject assignment
  • How School Placement Works: How we help you get hired at a partner school
  • Your Expected Salary: The compensation range for your region
  • Financial Support: Information about your Transitional Support Stipend
  • Your Training: An overview of what to expect during pre-service training
  • Your Decision Deadline: The date you need to accept or decline your offer

Take time to review everything. If you have any questions, our team is here to help.

Ready to Accept Your Offer?

You have 10 days from the date you receive your offer to decide whether to accept. Once you’re ready, the acceptance process takes about 10-15 minutes. You’ll be asked to:

  • Provide personal information, including your Social Security number, emergency contacts, etc.
  • Share what shaped your decision, along with additional information about yourself
  • Review and accept TFA policies
  • Confirm your commitment to joining the corps
  • Request optional financial support if you need it

After you accept, we’ll send you instructions for your next steps.

Have Questions Before You Decide?

Your career choices shape you, and joining TFA is a big decision. We want to make sure you have a clear picture of what that commitment looks like before you decide if it’s right for you.

Here’s how to get answers:

  • Talk to a staff member for personalized guidance
  • Attend the virtual Exploring Your Offer Call if one is hosted by your region, for a closer look at the experience and what comes next
  • Connect with a current corps member or alumni to hear about their first-hand experiences

After You Accept Your TFA Corps Offer

Once you accept your offer, you'll need to take additional steps to be hired by one of our partner schools, including participating in interviews and completing state certification requirements.

Your school will be your official employer, and they will provide your salary and benefits package. Don't worry—we’re here to help you understand the hiring process, prepare for interviews, and work toward meeting certification requirements.
