Teach for America New Mexico

The New Mexico region was founded in 2000 and began placing teachers on the Navajo Nation in 2001.  We also placed teachers in the Southern New Mexico “Borderlands” sub-region from 2012-2014.  We began placing corps members in the Rio Grande Corridor in 2017 and founded our Alumni Board the same year. In 2020, TFANM celebrated 20 years of service to New Mexico.

In 2021, New Mexico became one of Teach For America’s alumni innovation regions. As an Alumni Innovation Region, we are poised to innovate and learn new ways of contributing to the local education ecosystem.  Our current priorities are:

  • Diversifying and strengthening New Mexico’s teacher pathways
  • Retaining and developing educators to increase their impact toward educational equity
  • Increase TFANM leadership, connectivity, and impact
  • Exemplify TFA’s commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusiveness, and Core Values

To meet our priorities, we are working on a variety of projects and initiatives.  Read more about them in our 2021-22 Teach For America New Mexico Impact Report
