Teach for america greater cleveland

Since 2012, Teach For America has worked alongside our partners in Greater Cleveland to create opportunities for kids in our most underserved communities.

Since the founding of our region, we have built a diverse network of 400+ corps members and alumni, working from a variety of sectors to end educational inequity.

Our teachers are leading their students to 1.2 years of academic growth on average, demonstrating meaningful progress in the effort to close the achievement gap.

Our alumni work across many sectors that impact the lives of students in our community—as teachersentrepreneursnonprofit executives, consultants, lawyers, healthcare workers, and policy advocates. Alumni school system leaders such as Stephanie Klupinksi and David Hardy Jr. hold roles that directly influence the trajectories of students and families, and their leadership is resulting in gains.

Despite this progress, there are currently zero proof point schools that serve students in our community (meaning a school that proves student achievement by scoring an A in proficiency). This contributes to a lower definition of quality across the system and slowing the pace of change for kids in Cleveland. A proof point school will raise our collective expectations, create demand for excellence across the system, and develop insights that can be applied at scale. To create these schools in Cleveland, we seek a broad mix of extraordinary talent at all levels and  bold leadership to challenge the status quo.
