Earn a Full Salary and Benefits
As a corps member, you will be a full-time, salaried employee of your school district, charter school, or other employer. Your salary and benefits will be the same as other beginning teachers working for the same employer.
Salaries typically range from $24,000 to $55,000 depending on where you teach. Urban areas tend to offer higher salaries, but the cost of living is also higher. While you may earn less in a rural area, you’ll probably spend less for rent, food, gas, and other expenses. Compare costs and expenses on our regional comparison spreadsheet.
Depending on where you teach, you can expect your first paycheck between late August and late September. You may also be eligible for programs that can help with your costs, such as an AmeriCorps Education Award, a grant, or fellowship.
