Michelle Rhee (Baltimore '92) received the inaugural Peter Jennings Award for her work as founder, CEO, and president of The New Teacher Project (TNTP), which recruits high-quality teachers to work in low-income urban school districts. Since receiving the award, Rhee served for four years as chancellor of Washington D.C. Public Schools, and in 2010, founded a national education advocacy group, StudentsFirst.
