Aneesh serves as the Executive Director for Teach For America in Chicago and Northwest Indiana. In this role, he is responsible for determining the region’s vision and strategy and managing the region’s execution of the strategy to achieve its intended goals. He also serves on the national organization’s Executive Leadership Team, serving to support and steward critical organizational initiatives. Aneesh began his career in education as a corps member in the Twin Cities, teaching high school English and serving as department chair. After the corps, he moved to Tennessee to work for Education Commissioner Kevin Huffman. There, Aneesh served as the Chief of Staff for the Division of Teachers and Leaders, and played a major role in the design and implementation of the state’s transformative teacher evaluation system.
After his time in Tennessee, Aneesh played a senior role at TNTP (formerly The New Teacher Project), ensuring systems around the country improve achievement for students, and leading intensive engagements with major reforms in Camden, NJ and Boston, MA. His responsibilities have included supporting the implementation of the Camden City School District’s strategic plan, which resulted in the hiring of a school district cabinet and leadership team with demonstrated and quantifiable success, and supporting Boston Public Schools with their implementation of college and career-ready standards. Additionally, Aneesh is a former member of the Illinois State Charter School Commission, appointed by Governor Rauner, and he was named to Forbes 30 Under 30 for education.
