Ryan Maquiñana’s journey with TFA started when he joined the L.A. corps after earning his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley. During this time, he taught fourth grade at 109th Street Elementary in Watts while receiving an M.A. in education at Loyola Marymount University.

After four years in the classroom, Ryan attended UC Davis School of Law where he served as the Educational Policy Representative for first-year law students. It was also during this period when he began working in sports media as a writer, editor, and correspondent. His various stops have included Comcast SportsNet Bay Area, NBC Olympics, the NFL Network, and TFA’s content team.
