Jon’s passion for education policy is rooted in his experience in Memphis, TN, where he taught high school algebra, geometry, and debate for five years and served as a school administrator. Throughout his education career, Jon has dedicated himself to further the cause of urban debate, helping found the current league in Memphis and serving on the advisory board of the Washington D.C. Urban Debate League. Jon also engaged deeply in policy and advocacy work while teaching, volunteering with several state and local policy and advocacy organizations in both Memphis and Washington, D.C. Most recently, Jon worked on higher education policy at the Federal Department of Education. Jon is a proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he received his undergraduate degree in political science, his master’s in public affairs, and developed a life-long passion for Wisconsin athletics.
