Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Heather triple-majored in German, English Literature, and Political Science, graduating summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Washington & Jefferson College. Following graduation, she joined Teach For America, where she had the privilege of teaching art and third grade at KIPP Delta Elementary Literacy Academy in Arkansas as a 2013 corps member.
She was a summer fellow at the University of Arkansas’s Department of Education Reform and Office for Education Policy, and the recipient of the State Department-sponsored Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program (CBYX) fellowship to Germany, where she worked at the Center for Applied Policy Research. Most recently she held a Fulbright combined grant to Austria, where she taught English as a foreign language and conducted research on education policy. She aspires to learn all she can in a lifetime and to ensure all students have this opportunity too.
