Fatimah Burnam-Watkins grew up in the Garden State and joined Teach For America as a 2001 corps member in Baltimore. She has since served the organization in a number of capacities, including leading new corps member training in Philadelphia as the Institute Director, as a business partner for the heads of the Teacher Training Support and Development teams, and as the executive director of Teach For America New Jersey.
As executive director of New Jersey, Fatimah was responsible for maximizing the organization’s impact by working to grow Teach For America’s presence in the community, ensuring effectiveness of corps members, and building a sustainable base of financial support. Under her leadership, the region grew from a total teaching corps of 85 to 180, and expanded its reach across the state of New Jersey.
She currently serves as the Senior Vice President of Executive Leadership and Learning on the Regional Operations team. Fatimah is married to Jon and is mother to triplets Bryce, Cole, and Corynne.
