A native Texan, Cary Wright was raised in the Panhandle and is a graduate of Texas public schools. He joined Teach For America in 2009 as a fifth grade teacher at O.M. McNair Elementary School in Belzoni, Mississippi. Cary has been a part of the Teach For America Dallas-Fort Worth team since 2012, and has played a key role in developing the region’s financial and structural resources. During his tenure, TFA-DFW has more than doubled in size and impact with 1,200 education leaders reaching 60,000 students daily. Cary believes deeply in the diverse, powerful network Teach For America is building in DFW, and in the value of partnering with community leadership to create educational equity for all students across North Texas.
Prior to joining TFA-DFW, Cary served as the Press Secretary for U.S. Congressman William “Mac” Thornberry in Washington, D.C. He is a graduate of Davidson College with a degree in English. Cary lives in East Dallas and is an active member of the local community.
