Milner is the mother of three young children, the daughter of two career educators and a former high school teacher. She believes that developing an excellent, equitable educational system is the fundamental challenge to ensuring a bright future for Rhode Island. Milner works to support programs that provide citizens with the data and motivation necessary to advocate for successful schools in their communities. She was the founding board chair of the Bristol Warren Education Foundation from 2007-2011 and has been an Advisor to the Rhode Island Campaign for Achievement Now (RI-CAN) since that organization's inception in 2009. Milner's sister Maura Kelly is a TFA alumna (Chicago '15).
