Accelerate Institute’s Leadership Academy
The Leadership Academy is a 4.5-day leadership program for school leaders (principals, APs, deans, instructional coaches, etc.). Participants learn how to use the Accelerate Framework to assess their school’s successes and priorities in order to build out a strategic plan for their team/school. They will also learn how to effectively lead teams and manage a data-driven culture. Sessions take place in the summer.
Building Excellent Schools Fellowship
This four-year fellowship is designed for those who want to design, found, and lead their own charter school. The program combines in-person training in Boston, visits to exemplar schools, residencies and ongoing coaching and mentoring.
Jounce Partners School Leader Fellowship
We support currentleaders at existing high-poverty schools through school partnerships. We prepare future school leaders through our School Leader Fellowship, and support them in opening new schools built on the Jounce teacher development model.
The Fisher Fellowship is a highly-selective, one-year, cohort-based leadership program that prepares educators to found, lead, and grow a new high-performing KIPP school. Through in-person programming, residencies in current KIPP schools where fellows shadow a high-performing school leader, and the development of a robust school design plan, each Fisher Fellow emerges from the experience prepared to open a new KIPP school.
Designed to foster the skills needed to lead a KIPP school, the Miles Family Fellowship supports the development of assistant principals that are next in line to lead a school. Miles Family Fellows receive formal training through weekend workshops and engage in rich cohort-based experiences that support their development during the programming year and beyond.
Lehigh University: Urban Principal's Academy Masters Educational Leadership
In the Urban Principals Academy@Lehigh, known as U*PAL, vital lessons on innovative and effective leadership are baked into the curriculum through experiential learning and creative classes. Students earn their master’s in Educational Leadership during a program that takes approximately 13 months.
The program is geared toward working professionals, enrolling mostly teachers and school administrators. Students take courses online during the fall and spring semesters and then gather on Lehigh University’s campus in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for five weeks of face-to-face classes during two summers. The 37-credit program focuses on developing visionary, creative urban school leaders through team projects and special seminars and workshops. U*PAL students enter the program as a cohort, usually starting in a summer session, and go through together so they learn from each other as well as from Lehigh’s noted faculty.
Louisiana State University: Certificate Educational Leadership (online)
Designed for accomplished and caring teachers ready to take their skills to the next level, LSU’s online Master of Education in Educational Leadership helps prepare educators to become more effective leaders both inside and outside of the classroom. This comprehensive program allows educators to attain more challenging and in-demand education jobs and to build learning communities that are welcoming, challenging, and rewarding for children and teachers alike. Each year, the fellowship provides financial support to five Teach For America alumni who wish to pursue a graduate degree in education leadership at the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. Candidates must be Teach For America alumni and be employed in a P-12 school setting during the academic year when they complete the fellowship. The fellowship will cover 36 credit hours or three calendar years, whichever is completed first.
Northern Arizona University: Masters Educational Leadership

NACA Inspired Schools Network Fellowship
The NACA Inspired Schools Network (NISN) is building a movement of students, families, and educators to create excellent schools relevant to the communities they serve. Teaching and Leading Initative of Oklahoma
While great classrooms are driven by excellent teachers, at-scale change in our education system will happen when: 1) we have strong leaders setting the vision and driving their teams forward and 2) districts are able to leverage those school leaders to provide a variety of exceptional educational models to students and families. To support school leader development, TLI offers year-long, intensive coaching and development to a select cohort of emerging Oklahoma school leaders. The University of North Texas at Dallas: Principal Certification Only (Online)
Students who already have a master's degree in another area are eligible to pursue principal certification only. You can complete a certification plan in consultation with a UNTD Certification Officer. The certification officer along with the Educational Leadership Program Coordinator determines the courses needed for the certification and the transferability of courses. Transfer hours must be at the 5000-level or higher and may not be older than six (6) years when the certification requirements are completed.
University of Texas - Arlington: M. Ed. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies
The Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies was collaboratively developed by The University of Texas at Arlington and area school districts to instill the skills and background needed to become a campus principal or an assistant principal. This non-thesis principal certification program is fully aligned with the Educational Leadership Constituent Council (ELCC) standards and with the Texas Administrative Code (TAC §241.15), and designed for classroom teachers who want to advance in K-12 education.

The Texas Principal Leadership Academy (TPLA) is a 12-month Master's in Education (M.Ed.) program designed to prepare graduates to take the Principal as Instructional Leader EC-12 exam and become leaders of socially just, equitable, and high-achieving public schools in Texas. Doctoral candidates gain advanced academic training in educational leadership, particularly in the area of administrative and instructional leadership. The Mind Trust created the Innovation School Fellowship in 2014 in partnership with Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) and the Mayor’s Office of Education Innovation to launch Innovation Network Schools within Indy’s largest district. Through this nationally unique fellowship, Fellows have the opportunity to launch schools that combine the freedoms and flexibilities of charter schools with resources and services of district schools, including a school building at little to no cost. Atlanta Public Schools Aspiring Leaders Program
(Internal candidates only.) Atlanta Public Schools' Aspiring Assistant Principal and Aspiring Principal Programs are designed for internal leaders who wish to pursue a position as assistant principal or prinicpal in Atlanta Public Schools within the next 1-2 years. Members of Aspiring Leader Programs will participate in hands-on learning experiences that will enable them to utilize Atlanta Public Schools’ Definition of Leadership Excellence in order to achieve student success, engage families and the community, develop other leaders, and manage systems, operations and resources within Atlanta Public Schools. The 70/20/10 leadership development model will be used to increase participants understanding of APS’ Definition of Leadership Excellence as they matriculate through the program each school year. Participants do not have to currenly hold a leadership certificate to enroll in the aspiring assistant principal program.
Georgia State University Educational Leadership
We prepare graduates to be effective school and/or system leaders who positively impact student achievement. Throughout the program, students work on meaningful projects in a focused manner that is designed to help students develop the knowledge, skills and dispositions that are required to lead school and district improvement efforts. In addition, Georgia State collaborates closely with its partner districts to help assure that students are being properly prepared to successfully address the school and district needs. Good school and district leadership are essential for successful schools. Faculty members in the educational leadership unit were all successful teachers and administrators in pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade school districts in various parts of the country who have impressive backgrounds of educational research, academic scholarship and community service. The breadth and depth of their practical experience allows them to assist students in their leadership development by combining theory with practice.
Our programs provide a unique opportunity for current and aspiring educational leaders to further develop the skills, knowledge, and dispositions necessary for P-20 educational leadership positions. Through rigorous coursework and collegial interactions, students in our programs will have opportunities to link theory to practice in P-12 and higher education settings.
Gwinett County Public Schools: Aspiring Leaders Program
The purpose of the Aspiring Leader Program (ALP) is to recruit, develop, and retain assistant principals who will achieve the mission and goals of Gwinnett County Public Schools. To be effective, an assistant principal must have the knowledge, skills, and talent that cannot be acquired in college courses alone. The program helps to bridge the gap between theory and practice for teachers aspiring to be assistant principals. Every attempt is made to tailor the curriculum and experiences to meet the specific needs of those accepted into the program and to align with the Gwinnett Leader Effectiveness Standards.

Through the program, aspiring principals become students again in a customized leadership development program designed to ensure the district has the caliber of principals needed in the future. Advance Innovation Education: Redesigning Lessons, Re-envisioning Principals
Become a certified principal throughAIE’s educational leadership certification. The program is delivered in partnership with Louisiana State University’s E. J. Ourso College of Business, Louisiana school districts, charter schools, and Editure. The program combines business and educational principles to develop educational leaders who focus on the “double bottom line,” ensuring that schools are always focused on their mission and producing results for students, while at the same time generating the revenue required to operate and invest in new or expanded services.

University of New Orleans: Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Administration (Ph.D.)
The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree is intended for those who plan an inquiry into the issues of educational leadership through a theoretical framework. Doctoral studies in educational administration emphasize research methodology, both quantitative and qualitative. Study for the Ph.D. is suited for those planning careers in school, college and university administration, in college and university teaching, in research or policy analysis in offices or departments of school systems, higher and post secondary institutions, state agencies, or in any education-related leadership profession.

The program also builds on teacher preparation received in previous educator prep programs.
East Carolina University: Masters in School Administration
Our mission is to prepare educational leaders who respect diversity, build trustful relationships, apply scholarship to address practice, and engage in purposeful collaboration to confront the challenges of 21st-century education. The MSA degree is designed to prepare individuals to become school leaders. The MSA encourages and supports students to serve as problem-solvers, communicators, innovators, collaborators, and change agents as they immerse themselves in service learning experiences at their respective schools.
North Carolina State University: Masters in School Administration, Educational Leadership
Develop the professional expertise required for entry or advancement in K-12 leadership. The MSA program requires completion of eight, 3-hour courses (24 credit hours), plus 18 credit hours of internship for a total of 42 credit hours. Courses are offered in-person, once per week, in the afternoon or evening to accommodate full-time professionals who are students in the program. Access to distance education for those not located in Raleigh is also available (depending on demand).
North Carolina State University: Northeast Leadership Academy: NC State Principal Preparation
State University’s Educational Leadership Academies seek to increase student achievement by preparing and retaining principals in high-poverty, hard-to-staff, and historically low-performing schools. The Leadership Academies create a comprehensive leadership development and succession plan for NC high-need school districts. Each component is anchored in research-based best practices in leadership preparation and is designed to meet the specific contextualized needs of schools in North Carolina.
University of North Carolina: School Administration, M.S.A
The M.S.A. program is a nationally recognized and accredited leadership preparation program that prepares individuals to lead schools and other educational organizations. Most MSA graduates move into leadership positions at a school site, while others assume influential roles within state, regional, or national organizations that focus on educational professional development, research, or policy-making.

This program prepares graduate candidates to work as elementary and secondary school principals. Christian Brothers University MS Educational Leadership
If you are you are a teacher with three years of experience and wish to become a school administrator, our MS in educational leadership is right for you. This single-track program will prepare you to become a principal, assistant principal, supervisor, or facilitator. You also will be ready to take the Beginning Instructional Leadership License test for the state of Tennessee.

Lipscomb University - Administrative License
The Administrative License Program will enable you to lead with passion and effectiveness and to manage change that results in the highest educational achievements. You'll develop essential leadership skills, explore legal aspects in education and learn how to reduce conflict and increase collaboration. This program will prepare you for administrative endorsement and is grounded in Tennessee Instructional Leadership Standards. Candidates who have already completed a master's degree and three years of teaching experience are eligible to apply.
Lipscomb University - M.Ed. Educational Leadership
The Educational Leadership program is tailored to prepare high caliber candidates to become successful educational leaders at the school, district, or state level. Program participants follow innovative strands of leadership competencies on their way to earning a Master's of Education and a Tennessee Instructional Leadership License (ILL-B).
TFA alumni have the option of joining a cohort of alumni fellows as part of the program.
Nashville Aspiring School Leader Fellowship
The Nashville Aspiring School Leadership Fellowship (NASLF) develops and supports a diverse cohort of future school leaders to expand educational equity for children in Metro Nashville Public Schools.
This 2-year program is a partnership between Teach For America Nashville-Chattanooga and Lipscomb University. You will earn a Masters in Education (M.Ed.) or Education Specialist Degree (Ed.S.) and a Tennessee Instructional Leadership License (ILL-B) required for school leadership roles with Metro Nashville Public Schools.
Fellows will learn in a cohort model and gain hands-on experience developing teachers and driving student results at TFA Nashville-Chattanooga's regional summer institute. You'll learn and grow hand-in-hand with your Fellowship cohort, receive ongoing mentorship from experienced, effective school leaders, and receive career and job placement support in pursuit of leadership roles within Nashville-Chattanooga’s largest public school district.
Applications for the 2020 cohort are due March 16, 2020.
