About the Speaker 

Karen Fierro Ruiz

With nearly a decade of experience in movement work, Karen Fierro Ruiz is deeply dedicated to political advocacy and policy development. Based out of Seattle, Washington, she currently works with United We Dream, leading efforts to advance policies that support and empower undocumented immigrant youth. Her role focuses on managing initiatives that foster political activation and leadership within these communities. Karen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Whitworth University.

Arón Olegnowicz-Cruz

Arón Olegnowicz-Cruz is a 2024 Teach For America corps member teaching K-2 Special Education in Columbus, Ohio. Arón received B.S. and B.A. degrees from The Ohio State University in 2024 and is an alum of the Summer Venture in Management Program at Harvard Business School. Having lived in Mexico, Taiwan, and the United States, Arón is passionate about the intersection of business, policy, and education in driving economic development for underprivileged communities within the US and across the Global South.
