Gen Z is the most diverse generation to date and will soon make up the majority of the workforce. However, marginalized communities don’t always have equitable access to professional development tools. Join Brian (@imbrianoviedo), Lillian (@lillianzhang_), and Jade (@theninthsemester), to learn tips and tricks from finding an internship to networking and landing a job, from Gen Z for Gen Z.
Brian Oviedo is a senior studying Marketing with a minor in technology and management at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. As a first-generation Latino college student, he understood the power that mentorship and resourcefulness had on his professional development, there he made it his purpose to empower the next generation of leaders with the resources they need to succeed by creating fun but insightful Tiktoks as @imbrianoviedo. On his channel, he shares all that he's learned after interning at Google, Chewy, and other startups in the edtech and fintech space.
Jade Walters is a 2021 Howard University graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Health Education, concentration in Maternal and Child Health. During her time at Howard, she became a Spring 2019 initiate of the first business and professional sorority for African American women, lota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., Delta Phi chapter. In addition to her mentorship, she served as a campus rep for Tinder and Bumble and interned at Penguin Random House and Ulta Beauty. Jade has been content-creating for over nine years and currently serves as the Founding Editor of the Ninth Semester (@theninthsemester), an early career resources blog for Gen Z. As a first generation, Afro-Caribbean scholar herself, she strives to continue to share free resources and paid opportunities to help Gen Z get hired!
Lillian graduated from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley in May 2022. She is currently an Associate Product Marketing Manager at Google and creates content on social media helping students and recent grads with their careers as well as sharing what life is like living in the Bay Area. In college, she held internships in marketing, venture capital, and sales.
