Sharif El-Mekki

Sharif is the Founder & CEO of the Center for Black Educator Development, dedicated to increasing teacher diversity & supporting Black educators. The Center focuses on 4 key areas: Professional Learning, Pipeline, Policies, & Pedagogy. They offer mentoring & coaching for Black teachers & run Freedom School sites to inspire future educators. A former award-winning principal, Sharif is also founder of The Fellowship – Black Male Educators for Social Justice & co-host of the 8 Black Hands podcast.
