Teach For America–South Carolina Announces Participation in Lowcountry Giving Day 2015

Online Fundraising Event Will Unite Donors, Nonprofits Across Coastal South Carolina on May 5

Colleton, May 4, 2015—Teach For America–South Carolina announced today its participation in Lowcountry Giving Day 2015, a 24-hour online fundraising event sponsored by Coastal Community Foundation. Funds raised for Teach For America will help the organization to recruit, train, and support Teach For America teachers across the Palmetto State.

“We are excited to partner with Coastal Community Foundation to expand our online giving presence during this community giving day,” said Josh Bell, executive director of Teach For America–South Carolina. “Local support allows us to continue our efforts to provide excellent teachers for our students in high-need schools in the Lowcountry. We look forward to new and continued partnerships with individuals throughout the state.”

Teach For America–South Carolina is participating for the second time in this year’s event, alongside 180 nonprofits. Participation has nearly doubled from last year’s Lowcountry Giving Day, which raised over $4 million for communities across coastal South Carolina. Lowcountry Giving Day is part of Give Local America, a national day of local giving held in partnership with over 8,000 nonprofits and 80 community foundations nationwide. Because of this broad partnership, Give Local America 2015 is gearing up to be the largest fundraising event in U.S. history.
