Thank You For Your Support

Teach For America Sacramento Region is so grateful for our existing supporters. All gifts help our effort to recruit, select, train and support corps members and alumni.

Partner Spotlight

It is only with your commitment to and advocacy for Teach For America that we were able to launch our charter corps for the 2012-2013 school year.  We appreciate the opportunity to work with the Sacramento community to help ensure every child receives access to an excellent education.

Event Spotlight

On Monday June 11, 2012, aboard the Delta King riverboat, Teach For America - Sacramento hosted a dinner for our supporters who helped make our region a reality. Corps members got the chance to meet local leaders and champions, including Mayor Kevin Johnson, and to begin building relationships with our supporters by sharing their motivations for making a two-year commitment to educational opportunity in Sacramento.

Perhaps the most memorable moment of the evening came when we heard from Asha Canady, one of our 2012 charter corps members. Asha is a symbol of what is possible for kids growing up in poverty - she grew up in the underserved neighborhood of Oak Park in Sacramento and attended Sacramento Charter High School.  There, her teachers, including several Teach For America alumni, helped her empower herself to go to college, earn her degree, and return to Oak Park as a corps member. As she finished sharing her story, applause brought the house down and our new Teach For America - Sacramento family began our journey toward One Day together.
