Where Corps Members Teach

Rio Grande Valley corps members teach in the area’s traditional and charter public schools in Starr, Hidalgo, and Cameron Counties, Texas’s three southernmost counties. Because these counties cover about 4,200 square miles, corps members are often placed in groups in order to provide the most impact on school and student performance.

Get to Know Edcouch-Elsa High School

Based on her history of strong leadership and collaboration, Delaina Martin (Rio Grande Valley ’07) was chosen as leader of the math department at Edcouch-Elsa High School. Together with a fellow 2009 corps member Emily Elsenbast, Delaina used her position to advocate for a new math course, which tenth graders will take alongside their regular geometry class.  The class brings an innovative approach to teaching math that exposes students to practical and engaging real-life applications of mathematics.
