Get to Know Blackstone Valley Prep

Serving students from Central Falls, Cumberland, Lincoln, and Pawtucket, Blackstone Valley Prep is an elementary school dedicated to diversity, high expectations and college-readiness. The school was founded by Jeremy Chiappetta (New York ’95) with leadership from Jennifer LoPiccolo (Eastern North Carolina ’97) and Colleen Colarusso (Miami-Dade ’06) and includes several corps members on its teaching staff.

In the 2009-2010 school year, Blackstone Valley Prep kindergartners – 82% of whom entered school behind grade level in literacy – gained an average of two years in both reading and math, exceeding their grade level expectations and typifying the gains required to fully close the achievement gap.
