Where Corps Members Teach

Across the Valley of the Sun, more than 300 corps members are teaching in 13 districts and over 20 charter schools. Most corps members teach at a school with at least one other corps member. Each of these districts and schools give corps members and alumni the chance to be a part of small communities and to play crucial leadership roles in the neighborhoods in which they live and work together.

Get to Know Creighton School District

Teach For America corps members and alumni – including Damon Twist (D.C. Corps ’94), principal of Excelencia School, and Carl Zaragoza (Phoenix Corps, 2004), a member of the district’s school board – are working alongside other district leaders and community supporters to turn the Creighton School District around. Carl has championed policies to improve student achievement, and Damon recently led Excelencia to be awarded the A+ School of Excellence award, one of only four award winners serving students in low-income communities.
