Thank You For Your Support

Teach For America Memphis Region is so grateful for our existing supporters. All gifts help our effort to recruit, select, train and support corps members and alumni.

Partner Spotlight

The Hyde Family Foundations exist to improve educational opportunities for all children in Memphis, and focus on  progress in schools, people, and advocacy. In 2006, the foundation partnered with local individuals and institutions to bring Teach For America to Memphis, after previously spearheading the efforts to bring KIPP, The New Teacher Project, and New Leaders for New Schools to the city.  Today, the Hyde Family Foundations are a critical contributor to and advocate for system-level reforms in our community and they partner with 30 different schools, systems, and organizations to realize equity for students in our community.

Event Spotlight

For the past two years we have partnered with Deloitte, the international financial firm, who has sponsored a group of 35 - 50 civic-minded college students and professionals to visit our city and volunteer on school campuses for three days during the Spring. Many of the outstanding college students that are involved are interested in becoming Teach For America corps members after graduation, and our hope is to get them particularly excited about coming to work in the Memphis region. The three-day program is an Alternative Spring Break that enables them to get to know our community and the schools in which they may one day work!

Partner schools in the community are given the freedom to create projects that would meet what they determined are their most pressing needs. The participants engage in a range of activities including the reorganization of books in school libraries, cleaning and repainting walls, maintaing campus lawns and gardens, rearranging furniture, and facilitating one-on-one tutoring with students.
