Each day we see the realities of educational inequity juxtaposed against the concrete evidencethat when students in low-income communitiesare given opportunities they deserve, they excel.

Regions

Currently, more than 6,200 corps members are teaching in over 1,000 schools in 29 regions across the country.

If you are applying to Teach For America, you can learn about living and teaching in each region on our placement regions pages.

Teach For America places corps members in regions most profoundly impacted by the gap in educational outcomes. More than 80 percent of the students we reach qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and the overwhelming majority of our students (95 percent) are African-American or Latino. All of the districts we serve are classified as "high-need" local education agencies by the federal government.

As we grow our corps, our geographic reach grows as well. In 2007, we opened our newest site in Denver, and in 2008 we are expanding to Indianapolis, Jacksonville, and Kansas City. At the same time, we are working to grow our presence in our existing placement sites.
