FedEx Office Supports Teach For America Dallas-Fort Worth With Three-Year Grant

Company’s CEO Brian Philips to Serve as Regional Board Member

DALLAS, Dec. 7, 2011—FedEx Office®, an operating company of FedEx Corp.(NYSE: FDX), today announced it has awarded a three-year grant totaling $300,000 to Teach For America in Dallas-Fort Worth.  The Dallas-based company will award $100,000 each year for the next three years in support of expanding opportunities for local students growing up in low-income communities.  In addition, FedEx Office president and CEO Brian Philips will join Teach For America’s regional advisory board.

The FedEx Office grant will support Teach For America’s efforts in partnership with the community to close the achievement gap between students growing up in low-income communities and their more affluent peers.  This year, some 300 corps members are reaching nearly 20,000 students in Dallas and Fort Worth public schools, while more than 130 Teach For America alumni in the region continue working from all sectors for educational excellence and equity.  Through this new relationship, FedEx Office will positively impact students throughout the DFW metroplex, which is home to the company’s corporate headquarters.

“We’re committed to leveraging resources in ways that make a difference for the community,” said Brian Philips, president and CEO, FedEx Office.  “Our commitment to Teach For America Dallas-Fort Worth enables FedEx Office to assist corps teachers in providing a solid education for students to build a foundation for a lifetime of success.”

FedEx Office parent company FedEx Corp. has supported Teach For America on a national level for over five years, and since 2009 FedEx executives have participated in the annual Teach For America Weekcelebration as guest teachers in the classrooms of corps members.  FedEx Office also provides Teach For America corps members with discounts on printing, lowering their out-of pocket expenses for classroom materials.

“FedEx Office is a valued partner in the local effort to ensure all our kids receive the excellent education they deserve,” said Charles Glover, executive director of Teach For America in Dallas-Fort Worth.  “We know it will take leadership from all sectors, including our business community, to create the educational opportunity for DFW’s highest-need students that will help them get on the path to success in school and in life.”
