Our 46 regional teams and 11 national teams work closely together to fuel our growth and maximize our impact. The difference between 'regional' and 'national' is sometimes confusing. We hope our descriptions below will help you better understand how we're structured.
Regional Teams
Our regional teams advance our work at the local level, fostering strong relationships within the communities where we place teachers. To learn more about our work in 45+ regional locations, visit the Where We Work section.
National Teams
Our national teams have deep functional expertise in areas such as marketing, finance, IT, recruitment, and teacher preparation. These national teams provide direction and support for Teach For America’s work all over the country.
Admissions Team
Last year, nearly 48,000 individuals applied for our teacher corps, and 14% were accepted. We manage an efficient and transparent application process designed to identify the applicants who will become the most effective teachers. We also determine where to place our accepted applicants and oversee transitional grants and loans to help with their relocation expenses.
Alumni Affairs Team
We foster the development of our 20,000+ alumni network as a force for social change. We provide them with pathways to leadership, forums to advance their thinking on education issues, and ways to connect and support each other.
Finance and Administration Team
We make sure that Teach For America has the financial and administrative capabilities to support our organizational growth. We oversee all financial matters (accounting, planning and analysis, grants and contracts, and payroll). We also manage facilities, real estate strategy, and purchasing initiatives.
Growth, Development and Partnerships Team
Our team is responsible for enabling and accelerating Teach For America’s impact by 1) building partnerships with schools, districts, supporters, government, community organizations, and other education institutions; 2) developing and executing the optimum growth and corps member placement strategy to increase the teacher corps in existing and new sites; and 3) raising financial support to enable the organization’s growth and operations.
Human Assets Team
We strategically partner with all teams within Teach For America to attract, engage, develop, and retain our extraordinary and diverse staff members. We ensure that Teach For America has the human capital required to reach ambitious goals in the short and the long term. We strive to make our organization the premier place to work for the most talented, diverse people in the country who are committed to closing the achievement gap.

Marketing + Communications Team
Our mission is to build and strengthen the Teach For America brand among our most crucial constituencies, including corps prospects, corps members, alumni, staff members, donors, and news reporters. Our in-house insights, creative and digital sub-teams ensure our marketing strategies are integrated across channels and aligned with our core values, and our communications sub-team secures media coverage that increases awareness and understanding of Teacher For America.
Office of the Chief Executive and Office of the President
Led by our chief executive officer (Wendy Kopp) and president (Matt Kramer), we are responsible for Teach For America’s strategy, performance, operations, and effectiveness. We also work to foster a strong organizational culture. Together with the National Board of Directors, senior leadership, and other allies working toward ending educational inequity, we aim to maximize Teach For America’s current and future impact.
Recruitment Team
On college campuses and among all professions, we seek out our country's most promising leaders and inspire them to join our teacher corps. We work toward ambitious goals for the growth of our corps and its racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic diversity.
Regional Operations Team
Our team sets the vision and direction in each of our regions to ensure students in low-income communities receive the quality education they deserve. We work with local constituents—districts, community members, alumni, and other supporters—to help us realize our vision of “One Day.”
Teacher Preparation, Support, and Development Team
We’re responsible for ensuring that the students we serve earn expanded life opportunities through working with our corps members. In order to do so, we provide corps members with the training and on-going support to develop the necessary conviction, skill, and insight to become life-long, transformational leaders, working toward educational equity for all.
