Teach For America seeks $50 million in federal support in FY11

Teach For America relies on annual federal funding to support our program. As we continue to demonstrate success at improving educational and life prospects for students in low-income communities — and with demand from applicants and school districts at an all-time high — we have ambitious plans to expand our impact.

A $50 million federal allocation will help Teach For America:

Recruit a larger and more diverse corps.
Improve our selection model to ensure that those selected have the most potential to significantly impact students' academic and life prospects.
Advance corps member learning and development through greatly enhanced online tools and communities.
Foster the leadership of our alumni as a force for change by expanding support for alumni teachers, school and political leaders, social entrepreneurs and others working to organize their communities to close the achievement gap.

Legislators will not make final budget decisions until later this year; check back here for updates on the federal budget process and our effort to secure the needed funding in FY11.
