Our organization

Teach For America's organizational structure consists of 29 regions, six summer institutes, and national teams that support efforts across all of our regions and teams. Our work environment provides rigorous and dynamic challenges and offers an excellent opportunity to develop professionally.

Regional teams

Our 29 regions are focused on supporting the corps in the specific geographic areas in which they operate. Their efforts include managing the placement of corps members in schools and their orientation to the region, managing local development efforts, and providing support to corps members so that they can achieve significant academic gains with their students.

Regional offices are comprised of the following positions:

  • Executive Director - The executive director manages the team and oversees program, development (fundraising), and local outreach to ensure that the region maximizes its impact.
  • Program Director - One or more program directors drive our corps member support network, ensuring that teachers have their greatest impact on student achievement in the classroom.
  • Office Manager - The director of operational support, or office manager, provides administrative support to the entire team and makes sure that the office runs smoothly.

In addition, some regions have the following positions:

  • Managing Director, Individual Giving - The managing director of individual giving plays a critical role driving our donor acquisition and retention efforts with a goal towards developing individual donors into more significant funders over time.
  • Managing Director, Program - The managing director of program manages and supports program directors to help corps members maximize their impact on student achievement.
  • Managing Director, Regional Alumni Affairs - The managing director of regional alumni affairs works closely with regional alumni staff members to foster alumni engagement with Teach For America and build a force of alumni leaders.
  • Development Director - The development director coordinates fundraising efforts including grant writing, mail campaigns, networking, and special events in the region.
  • Director, Professional Development - The director of professional development ensures that corps members have the instructional and professional development resources they need to maximize their impact on student achievement.
  • Assistant to the Executive Director - The assistant to the executive director serves in a right hand capacity to the executive director, coordinating his or her schedule, local events, board relations, etc.

National teams

National teams support the efforts of our existing regions within key areas of focus and strategically manage the development of new regional sites. For more information about our national teams please see below.

  • Admissions - The Admissions team works to ensure that our incoming corps members are highly qualified and equipped for success in the classroom by designing and implementing efficient, comprehensive, and transparent application and interview processes. The team also oversees Teach For America’s efforts to inspire admitted applicants to join our corps, place them in teaching positions, and help bridge the gap between college and the beginning of the school year with transitional financial aid.
  • Alumni Affairs - The Alumni Affairs team works to foster the development of our alumni network as a force for social change. By providing alumni with pathways to leadership, forums for advancing their thinking on issues of educational reform, and meaningful ways to connect and support each other and Teach For America, we aim to help alumni achieve their individual goals while maximizing the collective impact of the movement for educational equity.
  • Finance and Infrastructure - The Finance and Administration team ensures that Teach For America has the financial and administrative capabilities to support our rapid organizational growth and enables us to meet our short- and long-term goals. The team oversees all financial matters, including accounting operations, planning and analysis, grants and contracts administration, and payroll processes. The team also manages all facilities, real estate strategy, and purchasing initiatives for the organization.

  • Growth Strategy and Development - The Growth Strategy and Development team helps Teach For America fulfill our potential as a force for change by marshaling resources, cultivating public and private sector champions, and strategically seizing opportunities for expansion and revenue growth both nationally and regionally.

  • Human Assets - The Human Assets team drives Teach For America’s growth and success by supporting all teams in attracting, engaging, retaining, and developing staff members. This team ensures that Teach For America is a high-performance organization that provides unparalleled leadership development opportunities and fosters extraordinary, diverse talent.

  • Marketing - The Marketing team fuels the success of Teach For America by building a strong brand, providing insights-based marketing strategies and materials, and leveraging Teach For America’s digital assets. The team supports national and regional teams to develop and execute marketing strategies and creates and manages Teach For America’s brand identity and positioning within and outside of the organization.

  • The Office of the Chief Executive and the Office of the President - The Office of the Chief Executive and the Office of the President are responsible for the organization’s overall performance, operations, and effectiveness. The teams work with the National Board of Directors and senior leadership to set our organization’s strategic course, engage and cultivate allies for our mission, and foster a strong organizational culture and strategic alignment throughout our teams and offices.

  • Public Affairs - The Public Affairs team manages Teach For America’s government affairs, media and communications relationships, research and policy, and legal affairs. The team works to build support in the media, policy, academic, and nonprofit communities for Teach For America’s ongoing efforts, ensuring that our external reputation accurately refects our programmatic and organizational strength and quality.

  • Recruitment - The Recruitment team works to enlist this country’s most promising future leaders in the movement to eliminate educational inequity. The team identifies and inspires thousands of potential corps members on college campuses and from multiple career sectors to apply to and join Teach For America. Additionally, the team is responsible for meeting our ambitious goals for the growth and diversity of our corps along racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic lines.

  • Regional Operations - The Regional Operations team works to foster regional innovation and ensure consistent increases in regional performance by identifying, developing, and overseeing Teach For America’s regional executive directors, who collectively fuel the growth and success of our mission. The team works to ensure that Teach For America’s regions maximize the impact of corps members and alumni, in addition to cultivating diverse and sustainable funding bases to ensure their long-term sustainability.

  • Teacher Preparation, Support, and Development - The Teacher Preparation, Support, and Development teams work to ensure that new teachers have the initial training and ongoing support necessary to make academic gains and remain lifelong stewards of the movement. The team develops teacher training and staff professional development frameworks, methods, and materials for our pre-service institute and our two-year ongoing training and support program in regions, and drives innovation and consistency in how teachers collect and assess data in order to achieve academic gains with students.
 
  • Technology - The Technology team partners with our national and regional teams to deliver high-quality technology solutions and support, enabling them to more effectively meet their goals. The team also provides the organization with operational, strategic, and fiscal leadership in the innovation and advancement of Teach For America’s technology platform.
