Welcome and opening remarks
With alumni running high performing schools and corps members' students consistently outperforming their peers, Teach For America's ability to make an impact in North Carolina is undeniable. The day will begin with a celebration of the impact our corps members and alumni have made across North Carolina, and a reflection on the state of our schools from a featured speaker. The morning alumni panel will explore the possibilities for our movement in North Carolina and the impact that we can have both individually and collectively as alumni. |
3:00
4:15 p.m. |
Breakout sessions
Sessions will provide alumni the opportunity to explore topics central to closing the achievement gap and access leadership development opportunities. We will engage important, diverse perspectives - from each other and from other leaders in education, academia, politics, community activism, and beyond. |
4:30
5:30 p.m. |
Closing North Carolina was one of six original placement sites, and we have twenty years of successes to celebrate. At the same time, the state is still grappling with many of the same challenges that brought us here in 1990. What reforms are necessary to move our educational system forward - and quickly? Why is now a unique and critical moment in North Carolina's quest to fulfill the promise of public education? We will hear from state and local leaders about what needs to be done to ensure every child receives the opportunities they deserve, and an alumni reflection on what we as alumni can do now to make an immediate impact on the lives of students across the state. |
5:30
7:30 p.m. |
Reception
Fellow alumni and guests will join together to network and celebrate the progress and potential of our collective impact. |
